Newsletter, WordPress & JQuery

December newsletterIt’s February already and figured it’s about time I post our December newsletter. While I was in the ‘website’ mood I tackled the job of upgrading my WordPress from 2.6 to 2.9. They’re only 0.3 apart but the difference is huge. I also wanted to change our newsletter page to break away from the PDF plugin and keep the bots from snooping around. JQuery to the rescue! I dug around in some PHP/HTML/CSS/JQuery code and came up with an neat little onscreen reader. Give it a try and let me know what you think. JQuery is way cool!

Is this even english. All you translators are alike – you keep throwing in all these fancy foreign words to make us feel dumb. Just kidding. I’m sure it is fun keeping the bots away. ???

Bots is short for “Internet Search Engine Robots” run by companies like Google & Yahoo. These are computer programs that scour the internet continuously and record/index everything they find. Then when you search for “Wayne Dirks”, it gives you the link to http://www.unga-bunga.com.

I like this solution. I need to do something very similar, and am curious how you got it all to work. Are you using a wordPress plugin for this? Would you be willing to share you code?
